Fun Family Forest Foray

Today we got to take a long lovely walk out to the forested property of our host and hostess (and soon to be family members). It was good to be out and get some exercise, and when we finally arrived at the forest we were delighted with what we found.

The kids all agreed that we didn't have enough time to explore.

Mom enjoyed taking some macro photographs - here's a sample of what we saw. I have many more pictures, so let me know if you want to see the more artsy-fartsy ones.

Below is a beautiful new evergreen that reminded me of the bonsai tree in Karate Kid.

To the right is an artsy picture framed with the peeling bark of a tree - the turquoise-ish spot to the right, is one of the girls.

Below is an incredibly blue beetle that we found - he was really good at playing "dead" but I assure you no insect was harmed in the making of these pictures... Steven was off hunting the praying mantis.

Isn't Germany beautiful? I always think of it as an industrial giant, but whenever I visit, I am blown away by the natural beauty. And your macro photos are stunners.
