Food, Glorious Food!
Today we took the kids to an authentic German restaurant set back in the woods of Celle. It was fairly quiet when we first arrived, but quickly filled up. At one point we began to realize that all of the new customers were wearing black and came to the conclusion that we were inadvertently crashing a German post-funeral luncheon. If you look closely at some of the pictures you will see people coming to the restaurant, dressed in all black.
One of the first things we tried was German Wedding Soup, also known as: "Hochzeitssuppe"
Abby wasn't too fond of it, Gillian liked it, and Steven was too busy playing to come try it.
For the kids we ordered a plate of sausage and fries and some potato pancakes with applesauce. They shared a little of everything, including the three gigantic plates of schnitzel that the grown-ups ordered and have yet to finish. We were all so stuffed (with more than half of the food left over) by the end of our meal, that instead of going for a walk in the woods that surrounded the quaint restaurant, I think we just waddled.
