4 Hour Drive

Here is a video clip of our most recent trip back to our old home-town (about a four hour drive south and west of where we live now. I had to travel back three times to help a traveler get an emergency passport (his was stolen on the train), to get visa paperwork cleared, and to get belated exit stamps giving me permission from the police to move, all the while managing to squeeze in spending time with special friends that we left behind. This time Steven came with me and we took a bit of video on the way. Don't worry - Mom knows how to point and shoot a camera without actually looking through it - my eyes were on the road the entire time (hence the bad video technique... but something is better than nothing, right?) I also had to lower the quality to get it to fit on the blog - if you want to see it in better quality, just get over here and see it for yourself!

BE PATIENT - IT MIGHT TAKE AWHILE TO LOAD

Things to notice:
a. The wildflowers along the road
b. The interesting trucks that fluctuate from driving WAY over the speed limit, to WAY under.
c. The quilted patterns of the fields of olive trees and crops
d. The shepherds standing, with sheep, right on the side of a freeway upon which vehicles are moving at about 120kph or more
e. The general beauty and tranquility of the view
f. Steven's references to "The boy who cried wolf" after seeing the shepherds and their flocks

Things to not notice:
a. The skipping of the Charlie Parker music in the background (jazz is still good even when it skips)
b. The shakiness of the footage (Seriously, I was focusing on my driving)
c. The bug guts on the windshield (you can only stop to clean that off, so many times)
d. Steven yawning mid-sentance (it was a four hour trip)
e. Steven's poor grammar skills and reference to blowing up miscellaneous objects on the side of the road
