Happy Birthday Boy

About those December birthdays... I thought I had it all worked out, but each year it seems to get harder and harder to convince the kids to move their birthdays to a more convenient time. So... even though we really CELEBRATE the kids' birthdays in June at their half birthday - culturally speaking it would be an affront not to send a cake and little gift baggies with candy on Steven's birthday - so he gets a party at school. Most of his schoolmates (and the girls' classmates) have parents who rent out McDonalds and invite the whole class. But since McD's wouldn't be interested in shoestrings (from our shoestring budget) we are going to skip that part of the birthday tradition here. The girls are eager for their special "exception to the family rule" next week.

What a cute picture! Nice job, Jeanine! Happy Birthday to all in that household! 'Becca
It's wierd how different some of the students at the school are from the majority of the culture, where birthdays aren't celebrated or even acknowledged.
Looking good. Hope all are well and continue to have fun. Send us an email some time.
Love, PaPa Doug & Ma Rain
PS. We miss all of you - Xmas was kinda quiet this year.
How many candles this year? Also, do you use half-candles at half-birthdays? How does that work?
