Culture shock - sugar shock!

So.... In America the teachers are cautious about the amount of sugar that you send in your kids' lunches, they teach healthy eating habits and encourage sliced veggies....

Here it is a bit different.

I have been sending healthy lunches for my little guy - especially because he gets so wound up when he is eating sweets. And I was approached by his teachers the other day. "Could you please send cookies or some kind of sweets for your son?" (I am thinking, for a party, right?) "He doesn't have anything fun to eat and all the other kids bring cookies and treats and he is left out and always asks for some of theirs. We had a mother complain that her child is sharing too many cookies with him and that means her child is not getting to eat their own cookies."

So it seems I am FORCED to send sugary treats with my son to school - it's a cultural thing that he is glad that we are adjusting to.

(...and if he gets himself into more trouble because he is wired???? I will tell them it is their own fault! LOL)
