Backpack to school - a Transforming experience
Last week we got the news that Steven will officially be able to start back at Public School next Monday. We have been working very hard with a team of professionals to make everything just right for his return to the classroom. The team is a great group of people who adore Steven and have a heart for helping him adjust to this new setting. Steven and I are both excited and a little nervous. Today we did a special kind of shopping - no groceries involved - I'll let you guess what we bought. (Ok, maybe the guessing won't be so much of a guess since I have included pictures.)
When we got home, Mom had a "writing" assignment to do.
I know it might seem tedious to write a child's name on every single school supply... but think of all the frustrations and arguments it will help to prevent! ("That's my purple crayon!" "No, it's MINE!" "I think it belongs to Harold!" "Teacher, SHE stole my purple crayon!") In any case, after I recovered from the permanent ink fumes and the hand cramps, we moved on to our regular day of home-schooling.
Steven's first assignment of the day was to do artwork to decorate his new binder. Today we had a bit of snowfall (none actually stayed on the ground) and Steven carried on about how he wished it would snow forever... but did you notice the theme of his artwork? Seems that perhaps spring has sprung in his heart, regardless of the fascination of snow.

What school will he be attending!

He will be attending the same school as his sisters, just up the hill from us. He has already spent a considerable amount of time there, since he came with me when I volunteered to read The Tale of Despereaux to the 4th graders, so he feels right at home there.
Horray! Congrats to you and Steven! Does this mean no more playdates? :( I'm glad everything has fallen into place and he has a supportive group. 'Becca
