Biscotti and Bees

The kids wanted to have lunch in the back yard, but when I placed the little card-table, they said "Mommy, that is too close to the bees!" I reminded them that the garbage cans were way accross the yard and the bees wouldn't bother them at all... when they pointed out the bamboo flowering a few inches from the top of my head!

...and upon further examination I realized that there were about 15-25 bees on each shoot. So I promptly moved the table into the kitchen. This new revelation helped me to remeber Steven's bee sting the day before and I took a mental note to keep the kids inside until the bees stopped being quite so interested in our bamboo... and promptly grabbed my camera to see if I could get some macro (really really close)shots of the bees. It was not until I stepped back into the house that I realized just how close I had been to at least a hundred or more bees.... YIKES!

So... thinking on more indoor activities we accepted a friend's invitation to teach us how to make Biscotti (a long dry cookie that you tradittionally eat with coffee). We had a blast - made a mess, and ate way too many of them when they were finished.

*Nice* bee shots!
Any chance you were able to mix the bees and biscotti for some extra protein?
My Italian side of the family has the greatest almond biscotti recipe. Looks like the kids are having a great time!
