Saying goodbye in Alki

Playing in the sand is always fun - even when you think it will be your last chance in a long time. While we were in the Seattle area, we drove over to West Seattle and visited with family there and gave the kids a chance to play at Alki beach.

Steven started a beach cleanup and found an old cigarette box and began picking up cigarette butts and putting them in the box. It kept him busy for at least half and hour, and then we were so proud of our tidy section of Alki!

We were hanging out with the kids "kinda" cousins (somehow related... like second cousins or once removed or something) Angela and Amanda. When Angela and Amanda saw the kids they said, "Wow! Have they grown up!" I had a similar response for them! Since when did everyone start growing up so fast and does this mean that I'm getting old?

Gillian and Steven enjoyed practicing their balancing, just like when they took gymnastics... guess they still have it! (and if you will notice, Steven still has the need to be first - as he speeds past his sister!)

After all the fun at the beach we had cookies with my Great Uncle Harold and Aunt Shirley. It was wonderful seeing them again and giving them a chance to get to know the kids now that they are a bit bigger. Shirley went in for hip replacement surgery the following week - and is doing well. Blessings on a speedy recovery, Aunt Shirley!
