The way things really are...

THE PICTURE THAT NEVER MADE IT TO OUR "CARDS"!

Our family is gearing up for the move overseas! As we prepare our hearts and change our habits, the kids come up with some really amazing concerns. For example, while taking this picture I asked Abigail to keep her little jacket on, ("But MOM, it's HOT!") for propriety of a photo that would be distributed far and wide, and to help get her used to the idea of living in a country where exposing shoulders is a no-no for women. So, of course, the next time she wore the dress, and it was hot (sitting in a building with big windows and no A/C... must'uv been at least 95F inside) I told her to take off the velvet jacket (as the sweat rolled , in torrents , down the sides of her face. But she refused, saying that she was trying to practice getting ready to live overseas! (sigh... ok, be hot, then!)

I love how my little ones are rising to the challenges ahead of us. Gillian is already practicing eating with her right hand only (she is left-handed, and left-handed eating is a no-no where we are headed). Steven is... well, Steven is still Steven, but he is starting to think about the changes ahead. Tonight he asked me, "Mommy, will I go to a new school there?" Yes, Steven. " Will I go to the same school as Sissys?" Yes, Steven. (Then, incredulously,) "Will I go to the same school as YOU???" Yes, Steven. "I hate school!" ...replaced, moments later by, "I am going to LOVE my new school!!!" At his new school he will be learning French. He has decided that learning French is ok because when they say Purple... it sounds like "poople" and any language with the "poo" sound in it must have some redeeming factors to a five year old boy!
